August - Back to School + Ellermania 2024

August - Back to School + Ellermania 2024

Hey Hey!

This blog is a long time coming. I've always had it on my bucket list to highlight events, and share some behind the scenes content with all of you. I find it fun to see behind the scene action of other businesses. Seeing how it all comes together, the good, the crazy, the mess- are you here for it?

Well, if so buckle up.

August was a super busy month. Area schools kept us busy with luncheon drop offs all month long. We LOVE that our name is out in the community and hearing that teachers request our menus is the bomb.com. Claudia at Lakewood called and even had us cater our kiddos back to school breakfast.

Emi and Hayden both love that we get to feed their teachers. So cool. 🖤

They did our Continental Menu which includes a build your own waffle bar, sausage potato bake, yogurt parfaits and pastries. (Yum!)

Mid August was dedicated to the biggest event yet- Ellermania 2024! This event truly turned into one of my favorite projects so far. Not only because it was the biggest (we fed over 2,000 people) but because of the people we got to work with.

Long story short.. We met Ava while catering her wedding at the Brim. Her and her new hubby were seriously the sweetest couple ever. We did our signature marry me chicken which turned out so yummy, and their cocktail hour. Anyway, fast forward a few months and Ava introduced us to her boss Donna. We hit it off right away!

Donna is the marketing director for the Rob Ellerman Reece Nichols team in Lee's Summit. (Try saying that 3x fast) They throw this epic client appreciation block party every year and hired us to handle the food. (EEK!) This year's theme was "New Orleans" and planning the menu with their team was so much fun.

I literally left each meeting feeling like I was on fire. The energy Donna and her team have is just so inspiring. Together we came up with a 7 station full on New Orleans style experience. Po Boys, Walking Tacos, Beignets, Cannoli's, Charcuterie Cones, Pizza Cupcakes and a Hot Dog/Brat stand.

We were able to partner with some awesome local businesses to make it happen. Including Berries + Honey charcuterie and Mud Bugs.

Kayla at Berries + Honey probably thought I was insane when I sent her a DM asking for 500+ charcuterie cones. I'm so glad our paths crossed and that she was able to come through and help us out. Everyone loved her charcuterie cones!

Chef Chris and his wife at Mud Bugs are so sweet, and man can they cook! We drive by their restaurant on Vivion every single day. They made it so easy to work with and their Po boys and red beans + rice were amazing! We could not have done this without them, and are forever grateful for their partnership.

We walked away from this event feeling beyond grateful (+ exhausted 🤣). It for sure was a "pinch me moment" and one we will never forget.

What's next?

The momentum is still going- we are gearing up for our busiest fall season yet.

If your hosting a party/event and need some cozy fall vibe food- check out our fall menu here. Spoiler alert but we leaned into all our fav fall dishes and made them bite sized. I thought of my grandma the entire time because she would have loved what we came up with. Her food always made me feel at home and I hope you catch that vibe with our menu this year.

We are also gearing up for Dark Forest at Powell Gardens. This year we are back with a brisket lovers concession menu, and a new open fire dinner feast. It has been a labor of love coming up with the menu, and figuring out all logistics. We can't wait to see it all come together. To get your tickets check out their website here. Can't wait to see you there!

As August comes to an end I can't help but look back on this year so far. To think mom and I started this whole thing 4 years ago is crazy. Somethings really do work out ya know?

I hope as your summer comes to an end you are looking forward to the "ber" months. Bring out those throws and comfy pants- let's be in our cozy era together.

Thanks for stopping by.
